Entertaining ourselves
We've had a blissful day. Lie-in - until 7am when the gate was rattled by the staff to let them in - devision of duties, Dirk let them in, I made breakfast and then back to bed. Delightful.
And frankly, very little has occurred, just what you want for a lazy Sunday. The weather is now lovely and we spent a couple of hours reading outside with the boy playing on his little gym at our feet.
We finally got ourselves together enough for an evening walk - which involved checking on a steer that is 'down' (they rarely get up, but we're still hoping). It was given some sweet tea - which apparently works wonders, then we carried on with our walk, only to find a couple of cows and calves who had missed their curfew for being in the kraal, so rounded them up and got them home for the night before going up to check on the second pen. The naughty boys - as Dirk calls them were hovering around the second pen as their paddock is adjacent. They're naughty because they are boys being given feed to fatten them for market, so too much food and not enough to do. I don't go and see them without a stick, but in fact, they're just bored and curious. Dirk wanted to spend some time with them (cow-gazing...), so I came up with ways to entertain the boy by taking pictures of us. We thing he's starting teething, so needs a little more entertaining than normal, but it seems just a kiss on the head is sometimes enough.
