Why so serious..?

I've been out today for a walk and to take photos. 

Lots of Autumnal style shots taken in the park, but I blipped one like that last week - these are for the Facebook weekly challenge, theme of which is Autumn!

I also had brunch in Starbucks, and while I was in there I saw this pumpkin, painted I believe, by one of their staff. They are much too talented to be schlepping coffee for a living!

While I was in the park, I noticed ripples and bubbles appearing on the surface of one of the smaller ponds. Closer investigation revealed that they were caused by these strange little creatures - some sort of insect as I'm pretty sure they have 6 legs. (See extra shot) I'm guessing they are water boatmen but never having seen them before, I'm not certain...
