Postcard from Alquézar

A standard tourist pic today. The weather was beautiful, too good to stay indoors, so after quickly dealing with urgent emails we set off to Alquézar, in the Sierra de Guara. It's yet another spectacular hilltop village, overlooking dramatic gorges. On arrival we went for a lovely walk down into the bottom of the gorge, along metal walkways tacked to the cliffs above the river, and then up into the town again.

Our TripAdvisor research for lunch was once again useless as everywhere was closed. I don't think they've really got into this off-season tourism thing here. There weren't many people about, and they were all hungry visitors like us. We found a bakery with a restaurant upstairs that had a dramatic view over the gorge, so we had a beer and some tostadas with salad while watching dozens of vultures swooping above the canyon.

Then we would have gone to the museum, but it's closed on Wednesdays, so after a walk around the town we headed back home for tea and cake on the lawn; at 5 pm it was still 20C.

Extra: S providing scale  in the gorge, but even in large you may have difficulty spotting him! Left-hand side, about a third of the way up.
