What Every House Needs
It's for wine and wine glasses. Only 349 Euros...
I felt well enough to venture out to furniture shops. Or rather I was well enough that I couldn't refuse to go without seeming like a bit of a churl.
It was, truth be told, not that painful. G & I agree on most things. Furniture we don't like is one of them. So it's quite easy to swish through stores with a series of Nope-noooo-nein-nie-so-hässlich-und-auch-so-teuer-and so on. She's really good to go shopping with in that regard. Minimise the pain, and let's get this done.
We'll see how that works tomorrow when we visit IKEA*.
I normally have a German lesson but I wasn't up to that as well, so I did some reading practise. It was a really interesting article in the Süddeutsche-Zeitung about pigs being taken from an Industrial Farm complex and reintroduced to life outdoors. I thoroughly enjoyed it and really only needed to double check a few words in the dictionary. For those of you with German and a bit of curiosity perhaps. Read it here.
It was nicely written (I thought), some very vivid pictures painted with the words.**
And I'll never eat pork that hasn't come from a farm where the pigs are reared outdoors & slowly ever again.
* pronounced ee-kay-ah in German. That took some getting used to. A bit like ee-bay-em instead of eye-bee-em.
**If you do read the story, you'll discover some of the pigs are just called Dicki. That's a bit like calling someone Tubby. Unfortunately for me it conjured the image of a lot of little pigs running around and they all looked vaguely like tubby little Richard Attenboroughs.
