Bright Buckthorn

Hubbies birthday and our Wedding Anniversary today. How did we celebrate, me at work on him at the hospital.  We did manage a lunch date thought that was beautiful, and I got the chocolates and flowers - loads of them.

Called up at Donna Nook on the way home.  The seals are on the beach, just.  They are lying in the shallows waiting to come in.  New babies any day now I think.  

Not a very inspired blip - but it just stuck me how many berries are about in the hedgerows.  A really bad winter has been forecast so maybe the old wives tales are true.  Anyway this is the brightly coloured Buckthorn that helps protect our dunes at Donna Nook.  Doing my research again I have discovered that the berries are edible and have found quite a nice recipe for Sea Buckthorn Fizz.  I wonder if it will catch on and replace the quite ordinary "bucks fizz".  You never know.
