Red-spotted Jezebel
Delias aganippe
Not the best photo (macro lens of no use here – the butterfly was high up in a tree). I have seen this butterfly in my garden before, but it always flies high and sticks to the tree tops, never coming down low (not in my garden anyway). It looks very white when flying, so I was surprised to see how colourful it actually is – though this is an extremely tatty and faded specimen. If you look it up on the internet, you'll see lots of photos of bright colourful ones, quite different to this! Quite a large butterfly.
