Positively Negative

Is it a negative image, or an oddly positive one?  Testing a new lens that's designed for both macro photography, as well as being a short telephoto.  So far, it has astounded me with its sharpness and clarity as witnessed by my portrait of this spiny little fellow.  I have a feeling I'm going to be using this lens a lot!  8^)
