Pecking order

I made chocolate brownies the other day, in time honoured fashion, the bowl was scraped clean, just as I used to in front of the aga in our kitchen growing up. Alex probably had a pretty tough lesson watching his father enjoy his treat, thankfully, it was after his meal and not before, otherwise he look on his face would be somewhat different! There's a pecking order being established in our pen as well, as the cattle work out just who is top dog, we fear that our new 700kg ox is being bullied, so Dirk is out late checking up on him.

At the pool today, they were carrying out some work, putting in new lights, or something, anyway, power was coming from socket in the ladies changing room - when I put the boy on the floor as I changed, clearly he made straight for the filthy electric cable coming out of the socket, after some persuasion, he found something else to entertain himself with. What I didn't see, and noticed only when someone started pulling the cable from outside the door, was that there was no plug, just wires shoved into the socket. In the changing room. Next to the pool. Almost as good as the workmen we passed on Saturday who we're working on the overhead high voltage power lines, in a rather laid back manner at least one was doing so beer in hand. Never thought of myself as a health and safety freak, and never thought I'd say it, but I'm sure there should be a few more risk assessments going on.
