Morning walk
We're developing a routine of a walk each morning. We've tried running and circuits, the problem is keeping the boy entertained whilst we do it - it hasn't worked as well as we'd hoped. We've also already tried running in the evening, that wasn't great, so now... I'm walking. I ran marathons once upon a time, I have to keep reminding myself. However, it's lovely and the running will come back, once the boy is a little more self sufficient.
We also walk because the dogs need a leg stretch. It tends to be me and lady dogs - four of them. The two boys are a pain. The terrier went down a hole 10 days ago and is still in recovery, 2 days spent being sick, 4 days moping around feeling sorry for himself and now a pathetic cough every so often, so he is banned from action. Then there is Boysie, he cuts his own detail and at the moment this involves guarding the Land Rover that's going no-where. However, the other four are lovely company.
The boy woke up at 4.40am, I was delighted, I'd slept for five hours straight, amazing and the prospect of a couple more hours was delightful, but no, he decided he'd had enough and after Dirk gallantly trying to entertain him for about 20 minutes post-feed, it was clear we weren't getting any more sleep. So, rather groggily, we made coffee then had a family outing to the pen to admire the new (scrawny) cattle in the (very) early morning sun.
After admiring the new arrivals, the boy and I went out for our walk, up into paddock 6, which was burnt on Friday, so it's looking a little odd at the moment - the picture is from the paddock. The naughty boys - the steers who used to occupy this paddock - have been moved and it's rather nice to walk through it without fear of coming across a herd of over-fed, over-inquisitive steers.
I had a meeting in town this afternoon about a website I'm developing, I was a little nervous as I wanted to make sure I'd got things right and it seems I have and the work was well received. PHEW, I'm now all eager to finish the site and get on with a few other things. Despite pretty hard having to juggle the time thief, it's great to be employing my brain.
