Trying
It was a good forecast so this morning we decided to do another Pathwatch square (13).
We set off to Cullingworth along the edge of Catstones Moor to start the walk which would take us across Keighley Road towards Barcroft and return through Ellar Carr to Cow House Bridge. As you can see here the sun was really trying to come through the clouds but the landscape remained misty. It was very warm and I was soon discarding my fleece.
Lots of autumnal colour but a bit muted without the bright sun. There was quite a bit of blue sky and a flock of geese flying over could be seen quite clearly.
My extra is to me a typical Yorkshire farming scene. The Yorkshire farmers waste nothing and the sight of the old bath wedged into the dry stone wall made me smile.
As usual lots of the paths were familiar but there were a couple of new ones. We walked 4 miles in all and returned home for a welcome bacon butty.
Spent the early part of the afternoon making Parkin Pigs - a Yorkshire version of gingerbread men, traditional here at this time of year but increasingly difficult to find in the shops. I thought they would do for trick or treat in case anyone calls. We had regular callers for several years and I bought all the gruesome wares available but last year no one came and we had things left that we didn't want to eat!
The pigs are also for Grace and John to take home with them. They are in Harrogate Trick or Treating with their nephews and then having a couple of days in Haworth to themselves.
Sitting watching the rugby now. Looking closer than it did at the start. I've enjoyed the tournament but I agree with Prince Harry the best match was the Japan/South Africa one early on, there hasn't been another like it.
Happy All Hallows e'en!
