Monday morning

Dirk has been doing a great job these last two week of looking after the farm and also setting up our own cattle heard.  Ok, we currently have four cattle (we did have the grand total of 10 last week) - but it's been more about getting the pen ready and doing some low level learning on these few animals before we start buying in any number. 

Today was the Monday after pay day, not quite as disastrous as payday, but not far off. The staff who aren't on weekend duty have until 10am to start work, however the weekend staff weren't around at 7am when they were supposed to start work, I think they rocked up at about 7.30 - by this time Dirk had jumped on the tractor to do the rounds feeding the cattle.  I think that secretly he quite enjoyed his morning outing and a bit of tractor driving.

The day then started with a Monday morning meeting with the staff, ready for the parents in law to return and making sure everything was ship-shape for the boss. 

The boy and I have had a lovely day, we didn't get our walk in this morning, which is very annoying, but we're almost crawling and almost sitting on our own.  I did get a little over-excited about the sitting the other day and let go, only for him to fall over and bang his head.  Bad mother.
