to Visit the Art Exhibition

We have a wonderful island museum at Douglas that displays every aspect of Manx history and art work.

It is rare however to have a display of non Manx work particularly when the pictures are held privately on the Island. That was an opportunity not to be missed.  I went there hoping that perhaps there would have been on display a picture by James Charles (1851-1906) and in whose life and work I take an interest.

I was disappointed in my quest but delighted to see this star of the show by L.S. Lowry entitled Old Houses.

Later, of course, I could not resist the temptation to look it up in Christies online catalogue and see what it was sold for in 2011......
