Heads and hooves

As a marketing 'professional', there are many things that grate out here and would not happen in the cosmopolitan London world I've inhabited for longer than I'd like to admit.  Business names and advertising is up there - it's just a little bit different.

One particular favourite is the 'Heads and Hooves' butchers, as names go, it's pretty bad, the prospect of getting my meat from a butchers of that name does not fill me with thoughts of a beautiful meal.  Every single time I see that butcher, it just conjures up the wrong image.  My other true favourite is the advertising for male circumcision (just the fact that it's advertised!) - there are bill-boards up that simply read 'male circumcision available at eye clinic'. Yes, when I get a picture it will make photo of the day.

Today was a first - I went to town totally alone, leaving the boy in the hands of his family - with instructions written down of what happens when.  It was a mixture of delight and angst.  I came back to find that it had gone ok - for some reason he didn't eat half of his lunch and his naps had all gone to-pot.  However, everyone survived, his mother may need to learn when to let go a little and he needs to learn that other people can look after him.  We were happily reunited with a delightful hug (he does great ones these days) .
