The Portuguese Palace at Estoi

Begun in 1840 it was the brainchild of a local
nobleman who was fortunately succeeded by
another and eventually completed in 1909.
For the accomplishment he was made
Viscount of Estoi. Its preservation is now
assured having been adopted by the State
as a Pousada or upmarket hotel in an area
designated as one which would benefit from
tourism.
