Swallow Falls
As planned, we drove to Portmeirion this morning. The weather overnight was dreadful, but had brightened up when we set off.
However, by the time we got there it was torrential again. Undeterred, we had a good walk round the village (with the obligatory coffee stop) and got soaked in the process.
On the way back to the hotel, we decided to have a look at Swallow Falls which is only a couple of miles outside of Betws-y-Coed.
We'd seen photos on Google and a couple of reviews on Trip Advisor had said its best viewed after a heavy downpour; they weren't kidding!
We were totally shocked by the deluge of water, we really didn't expect it to be that bad. It was like being back at Niagara! It was awesome!!!
There were a few people there and I got talking to a lady (from Bolton) who said she's visited here several times and never seen it like this. She also recommended us to visit Aber Falls, so we think we will go there tomorrow on our way home.
I wanted to be able to show you the contrast between the 'normal' falls and what we saw today, so I've had to share a google image in order to do this. The bottom photo is my image from today.
We've nothing else planned for today, just a wander round town. Visibility is virtually non existent on higher ground so no point attempting a walk anywhere other than the local pub!
