Scourie Bonfire night..

..always on the nearest Saturday to the 5th. The men have been out building the bonfire since mid morning. There have been tractors, and diggers, and lorries, and cars and ATV's with trailers. And the pile just got bigger and bigger..

We were watching from the croft, while we were harvesting vegetables for the hotel..

Normally, we'd have gone down, enjoyed the heat of the fire, and the smell and sounds of the firework display (for a small village, it's quite impressive), and the taste of the hot dogs and burgers.. But now we have a Tanni, and she's not so keen on the flashes and bangs..

We did get a calming CD for her the other day. Saw it on a friends post on face book. Cost £8 with postage, and it contains 6 tracks, each 12 minutes long, of what sounds like static. Crackly hissy sounds, but I'm sure there's something more in there too. Now it's not cured her, but she has been much more at ease, didn't tremble like she normally does, and has recovered quicker and is now asleep at the bottom of the stairs.

Anyway, I sat outside the front door with camera on tripod, and release cable. Got some OK shots, but found I got better results with longer exposures, 10 seconds for these.. There may be some overexposure, but I've also picked up the atmosphere of the display.

The fence posts in the foreground are illuminated by the streetlamp, but I quite like the way A's polytunnel is picked out. And the reflection in the sea, and the glow of the fire..

Oh, and the pier, where they light the fireworks is 1/2 mile away..
The extra reminds me of those marine tube worms filtering food from the water..
