Successful day!

Got quite a bit done today.  This morning Stu cut bricks to put in place above the two lintels upstairs, while Dad removed the bricks above the window in the lounge and replaced them with engineering bricks ready for the final internal lintel to be fitted tomorrow.  He did a brilliant job especially as he wasn't supposed to be doing this.  Stu had started to do it but stopped when he thought the bricks were going to fall out from upstairs.  Dad continued and Stu was proven right when the bricks fell and landed on Dad cutting his nose - nothing serious and could have been much worse.
Dad only came round to remove the old wiring in the dining room ceiling.  He said he had never seen anything like it before.  There were loads of wires held together with old pairs of tights!  This really is the most random house ever.
Anyway, while all this was going on I started removing all the tiny bits of wallpaper left on the walls in the hallway - only to discover the plaster has gone and needed to be removed.  This is what I spent most of my Day doing.  It was quite enjoyable actually, but also annoying in that me and Gemma spent ages removing the wallpaper when we didn't need to.
The peak of today was definitely Stu discovering that the drains look OK.  The structural survey had indicated that there might be a problem and if there was it could have cost up to 3K.  Luckily though everything looks fine!
Happy Days!
