#Roadtrip day 2. at the ferry
Incase you wondered
This is where the dogs are supposed to do their business at the ferry. From ours 1/3 managed to do that. I don’t know how “often” they change the sand. It reeks meters away so awful it’s almost impossible to be near holding the leash. Nelson has just done his business on the deck, but it’s been easy to clean it up. So far Amadeus has not been able to go.
At 2 am we had to put our clothes on and take the dogs to their deck to pee. Buddha was once again the only one who could go. It was bloody cold and windy. In the morning we had travelled south enough that it’s quite tolerable outside even with the heavy wind.
Nelson has been better. He’s not eating, but he has drunk which is good. Even when it came out as diarrhea. he doesn’t have fever and is quite happy. Sleeps a lot, but likes to go out for walks.
It’s been an interesting trip with this long ferry ride. It hasn’t been stormy, but the ferry has swung enough to make me seasick. Saturday morning was really rough for me. I wasn’t sure if I was able to make to the brunch. I finally was able to stand up and went to brunch holding a doggy poop bag on my hand incase everything I was holding was about to come up. Luckily it didn’t. Few very slow cups of coffee helped and the sea also settled so I was able to eat a bit.
We met a Finnish gentleman who is also on his way to Spain. He’s car is parked behind ours and he pointed out that we’ll be getting a ticket with the bike on the back of our car. He told us that he can lend his if we give back to him. So we’ll get his license plate holder and can drive with that to Torrevieja and during the ride we have time to buy one to ourselves. His place is on his way, so we’ll drop the license plate holder to him as we pass him by and he’s even promised to make a some coffee.
I’ve been writing this in advance for tonight at the hotel when I’m hopefully able to upload it. The plan is that as soon as we get out of the harbor we drive to the side of a road and let the dogs pee in peace. Hopefully Amadeus is able to go then. Once we get to the hotel we will take them for a walk. This day at the ferry is definitely the hardest one for the dogs. Once we get driving we’re always able to pull to the side for a pee session for the dogs.
Today started as very foggy. Even midday you could not see anything outside. Now we see Sweden on the right side and presumably Germany in the front horizon. Funny how the route took us between mainland Sweden and Gotland island. I thought we were gonna ride Estonian shoreline. Pretty soon we’ll have Denmark on the right side (I’ll be vawing to you Emmy!). On channel 2 they show where we are on map. My favorite channel except they play the same song over and over and over again. The song never stops! Honestly! And we need the noice to keep the dogs calm.
There’s not much passangers on the ferry. The staff is really friendly and helpful. I suppose they have time to be. 2 dogs also riding to Germany right next to us. At times they bark and Buddha responds eagarly. To avoid that we’ll have to have television on. I’m watching Jamie Oliver cook on Swedish channel. And I’m getting bloody hungry. Almost 3 hours before dinner. Hubby is on deck 11. The only place where you have a chance to catch some wi-fi. One of us is with the dogs as the other one can wonder around the ferry. We both leave the cabin only for meals to make it bit easier on the dogs.
It's now 23:40 and we just got to the hotel. Time to get some zzzz's. But as Amadeus saw land and grass he was finally able to go. after about 30 hours of holding in. Guess how happy he became?
