Edifice
George Heriot's School in Edinburgh, founded by Heriot, jeweller and banker to James VI and I. Heriot had seen an hospital school in London and founded this "hospital" for the "faitherless bairns" of Edinburgh in 1624.
The Foundation still supports children whose fathers (and now mothers) have died, although it is now an independent day school.
We were there to see a production of "Paint Your Wagon" which would have been better if Susanna hadn't insisted on sitting right beside the orchestra. It made it harder to hear the singing, but it was fun!
