CBSO

Epically fabulous day! We had a wonderful time!!! A lovely play time for Katie and her cousins, a cooked breakfast made mainly by my cute little 7yr old cousin; lots of fun and special times. Then we packed up the car late morning and headed over to Birmingham for one of Katie's birthday presents- tickets to the CBSO family concert.

We met our friend Sarah and had a yummy lunch in Pizza Express, played at the sculptures near the Symphony Hall. We then met up with her piano teachers daughter, who was playing in the concert.

The concert was absolutely fabulous - "the young persons guide to the orchestra". It was brilliant and so perfect. She was enthralled, a huge smile the whole time and tapping, dancing, wiggling along to the music. She kept waving at Amanda and had a glorious time. It was absolutely brilliantly done and the orchestra completely got into the spirit of it.  There was a fabulous section teaching the children a bit of conducting which Katie loved.

The second half of the concert was a little unusual.... The sections of the orchestra split up to each storey of the balconies by he foyer and played a second set of pieces. The woodwind played theirs only on their reeds and mouthpieces; the brass played garden hoses and funnels; the percussion played a piece on dustbins and half the string section played their violas/violins like guitars... It was Brilliant. We had a chat with Amanda after for a while before we went to get a coffee. Such a good afternoon. The girl was So happy and excited. All day. It was fabulous. She stayed awake pretty much the entire journey home chattering about the drawings she plans to do of the orchestra. Such a good day!
