Initiation

Spotted these two toddlers in formal dress in front of the Yohashira Shrine (an important Buddhist temple in Matsumoto).
It is the tradition at ages 3 and 6 for chikdren to be dressed in formal ceremonial clothes and taken to the temple for an initiation process.
I think these children are brother and little sister.
They have just been released from parental control, having had to pose for the obligatory photographs.
I thought they looked tather delightful.
