Palm Oil

The third Malaysian prime minister introduced palm oil as the country's major export commodity to replace natural rubber as global market prices weren't favourable. Large palm oil estates and plantations were opened. The country moved forward on its lignocellulosic income. It has become the world's second largest palm oil producer (after global catastrophe-causing Indonesia) with the world's second largest oil palm plantation company. While these trees aren't a common sight near residential areas, they are along highways, like this North-South Highway towards Malacca. Often, they stretch out for miles in every direction.
