Jocks Vs Nerds

NERDS VERSUS JOCKS! - by Erica Göhre

Grunting, sweating exertion,
We certainly do not get it.
It takes a certain amount of coercion,
To get the jocks to get fit!

Look at those nerds man, poor things,
They've never hit a ball, or broken a sweat.
They play chess moving queens and kings,
But outdoor games only make them fret!

The audacity, the cheek I tell you!
We have no need of this savagery
They stretch and strain we give them their due,
But it's a bit too physical we can see.

We can't imagine life without competition
Who's going to lose, who's going to win
We strive for that trophy, that glory is our mission,
The noise of the crowd, the shouting, the din!
What really annoys us is the gear,
Sleeveless tops with muscles which shimmer,
Standing in lycra is what I fear!
If you don't run and skip, you never get trimmer!

It's their look which bothers us,
Coke bottle glasses, they're as blind as moles,
When they get injured they make such a fuss!
They may as well take up crosswords and lawn bowls!

Chaps, let's find some common ground,
A place where we can bond as one,
Yes, a winner between us need not be crowned
Jocks and nerds unite and have some fun!

This was part of the fun from our Primary School Cultural Evening. The poem was written by our English teacher. The theme was the Olympics.
