Duke of Roxburghe's Coming of Age 1934
I had to do a last minute blip as the site had been down, then we were busy with Ella and Nathaniel's visit. I made a mess of the blip with the flash. This is a photograph from 1934, with my grandparents 13th and 14th from the right, back row. (Great uncles and aunts are also there but I don't know where - and now there is nobody around who'd know.). It was a party for his tenant farmers, hosted by the Duke To celebrate his 21st. He looks a lot older, middle front with his mother and the house party guests close by. In some ways another era, in others, nothing has changed. I think my camera knows my republican feelings as the flash has whitened out the Duke!
