Playing with Pride

It was a long haul to Aberdeen today as the twins were both playing for Kilmarnock Tornadoes v Aberdeen Lynx in the Scottish Cup.  Despite a resounding win in the league  earlier in the season Killie did not approach the game lightly however there were four players that didn't travel leaving us a little short benched for the game.

Undeterred by half an hours delay in face off the Tornadoes set about the task with great heart and soon the scoring started.  Fraser was playing on a new line tonight, a new defensive unit and both he and Oliie played very well together.

Mimi was itching to get going she worked incredibly hard at training last night and had a fabulous session and today picked up where she left  off.  She imposed herself on the game and was strong through out pulling out a series of great saves.  a double save midway through the second period was bungled by the defense who failed to clear the puck and Aberdeen got on the board.  Undeterred she lambasted the defense and settled back into her zone.  Despite being well behind Aberdeen continued to press with Mimi more than equal to the task, she had one phenomenal save that stopped a certain goal.  With six minutes left the defense again failed to clear and Aberdeen ended up with a three on one chance and the winger scored a great goal leaving Mimi with no chance.

The final score was 19 - 2 to Kilmarnock and they march on to the next round.  In a game where one of the Kilmarnock forwards scored six goals and another scored four it was a huge surprise that Mimi was selected as Man of the Match which speaks volumes about her performance.  Fraser too played fantastically well tonight and could also have been a good shout for man of the match

I know it sounds silly but when she came off the ice all I could do was cuddle her, I was lost for words and knew if I tried to talk I would have cried, the tears welling up in my eyes.  I am so proud of my guys I cannot explain
