Rosa Rugosa

I snipped a couple of these from the hedge surrounding the heritage railway in Ramsbottom. It always fascinates me that such fine, delicate and beautiful flowers are protected by such utterly fearsome thorns, possibly the most fearsome in the floral world.

We were near the railway because H needed watercolour paper and paints and the art supplies shop is directly opposite the station. She has a college interview on Monday so this was a necessary trip. Naturally Ma came too so we had to do a bit of a tag team effort where I sat in the car with Ma while H went into the shop. Then she came out and I went in to pay. It worked really well apart from the £53 bill...
