Crossing the Road
The wind raged through the night and it must have rained and rained. I had no idea just how wet it had been until going into town in the morning. Water was sluicing off the moor right down the middle of Brook Street. Most spectacular was Denton Road, which was completely flooded. I bumped into a friend who lives there, watching the water encroaching up to his front door. He had taken the dog for a walk at 8.30am and by 9am the river had risen to consume the entire park. This is taken on Denton Road, at a spot where I'm often to be found cycling past on a Sunday morning!
I probably got wetter than anybody. I didn't have wellies, not that they would have helped much because the water was almost waist deep in places. I'm glad it was another very mild day!
