Arrowtown
I think I'm going to live in Arrowtown. The history, the town, the mountain view are all so charming. Arrowtown is originally a gold mining city in their gold rush period. They would have all kinds of people coming from around the world just to mine gold. This made the city start up and become official because they built houses and had a bank. With every country there is always a downside to the history. During the gold rush, they invited the Chinese to come, but they were overwhelmed with the amount of Chinese that were there so they taxed only the Chinese at least half their pay. They also wouldn't let them live in nice places, they would also have an assigned spot to search for gold. No one else had these rules except the Chinese. The people of Arrowtown today have apologized for this and are ashamed of that part of their history. After we learned about that part of their history we went and visited a church and a "gaol" (jail). The interesting thing about the jail was that when there was a pregnant women there she would have a room with a fireplace for the baby. This showed that they respected women even at the early stages of their country. Another thing about Arrowtown was the plants and trees that grew there. They were all so beautiful and colorful! They had loads of azaleas growing there. The houses were very modern looking and were mostly made up of concrete and wood. Although some of the older homes were partly made of brick. This just adds to the charm of Arrowtown.
