The Cutting Edge (Friday 20th November 2015)
When I was a teenage brat, incessantly listening to Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde On Blonde in my bedroom, I could never have imagined that I would one day hear, let alone own "every note recorded during the 1965-1966 sessions, every alternate take and alternate lyric", as the 18 CD box set is described, recorded over just fourteen months in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville, plus a few road recordings, all in pristine quality and in a format yet to be invented, free of all hisses, scratches and sibilance.
However, today I became the proud owner of just such a thing. The Collector’s Edition of The Cutting Edge is limited to only 5,000 copies worldwide and will never be re-pressed, so my numbered copy, no. 4085, should increase in value.
Well, that's my excuse, and just as well as it was massively expensive and there was a lot of import tax to pay on top, as it was only available from Bob Dylan.com in America. I believe it has sold out now.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Bob Dylan - Visions of Johanna (Take 5, Rehearsal) (recorded 30 November 1965, Sunset Sound Studios, Los Angeles CA)
So different from the haunting released version on Blonde On Blonde, recorded when sessions reconvened in Nashville TN. On this unreleased earlier version Bob Dylan is backed by the Band in full-steam-on mode. This track is also on the 2CD Best Of Cutting Edge format. Take 8, recorded with a couple of extra musicians at the same rehearsal session, was released on No Direction Home.
