Chuffed to see this chough
Today was our 4th day of walking the Anglesey Coastal Path and it was the most strenuous so far, along the rugged north coast of the island from Porth Eilian to Cemaes.
It was raining as we started the walk and the forecast was terrible for the day, so I was worried I would get few good photo opportunities, but after lunch the sun came out and we had a couple of lovely bright hours.
We had been hoping we might see some choughs as we walked these cliffs because we knew there was a large breeding colony of them on Anglesey (at South Stack RSPB reserve), and sure enough we came across a group of them, one of which I managed to catch on camera. I wasn't carrying a very powerful zoom lens so have had to crop for this image.
Choughs are the rarest member of the crow family but are easily recognisable by their distinctive red bills and legs - their Welsh name, brân goesgoch, literally means red-legged crow.
