Floriade 2012

On the Eastern borderland of the Netherlands in a small town named Venlo. The reason for coming to this area was to visit Floriade 2012. This is a garden show held in the Netherlands once every ten years. As well as focussing on Dutch floriculture, exhibits include those of many nations have garden areas and exhibits showing gardens and flowers in their part of the world.

Unfortunately if yesterday was stiflingly hot and humid, today was cooler but also we had cloud and then showers scattered through the day. Some showers quite heavy.

On arrival we took a cable car ride through the show ground to get an arial view of the park and the general layout. The show ground is quite large, so I think we are maintaining our daily average footfall.

Two pauses for sustenance were taken during the course of the day, both timed to avoid a sudden shower, we extended the second pause during a heavy showers. We both managed to come away empty handed. No mean achievement!
