Brantwood
We arrived last night - a group of friends who have known each other for years staying in lodges on a very cold night in November. Fortunately the lodges turn out to be very good - and very warm. Phew !
After a walk around Tarn Hows and lunch at Coniston we visited Brantwood, John Ruskin's former home, in the afternoon.
His additions to the house included a turret room upstairs, with fantastic views over Lake Coniston to the Old Man and the hills either side. Born in 1819, he died in the bed here in 1900, after an extraordinary life. It is a lovely house.
