50 shades of Brown

This has been a very challenging weekend.

We headed back this afternoon, stopping briefly for a dry roll and apple, at the car park at Football Green (in summer cricket is played here, we have never witnessed a game of football).

It is along the route we take to avoid the hold ups at Lyndhurst when we cross the Forest. A few ponies grazed, and everywhere was damp. That is where I took this blip. The colours through the New Forest are just spectacular at the moment.

For the first time the Ford we cross at Woodside had a stream running through it. It has rained a lot these last days.

The extra - I cannot not take a photo of the sea. This view is looking west from the cliff top at Highcliffe - Barton and Milford lie in view, and in the distance the lighthouse near Hurst Castle, on the spit that juts out into the Solent towards the Isle of Wight. In the foreground a collapsed cliff. Coastal erosion is a real problem here. In 100 years I guess much that is in view will be under the waves.
