Serengeti Sunrise
Today we had a Sunrise game drive in serengeti. Waking up to the African skies is becoming so addictive...every five minutes the colour palette seems to change...it is utterly amazing.
On this early morning drive we were met by bull faced buffalos, saw a family of cheetars, lions, giraffes, gazelles and zebras. We then headed back to camp for breakfast. Then packed our bags and headed off for our final drive.
We mentioned to our Godfather that the only animal we hadn't got close up to was elephants and as if by magic a papa-elephant appeared just metres from our jeeps. He was so close that my long lense was lost on this monsterous animal so instead we both took the opportunity to just quietly watch him with our-own-eyes and not worry about getting the money-shot!
We had our usual picnic lunch then headed to Serengeti Airport which is literally in the middle of the game reserve. The weather had turned a bit rainy so our pilot Elizabeth suggested we hold on for a few minutes for it to clear otherwise it would be 'very bumpy'. The rain cleared and a total of 5 boarded a very small plane. It was a little bit bigger than a plane i got with my friends in NZ when we did a skydive so it was really a thrill in itself.
Once on Paul and I took some shots out the window of the Serengeti Planes and we were thrilled to see a rainbow in it whole full-circle state...very cool.
Arrived into a very bustling Arusha with people, bikes and cars everywhere. Drove to Mulvaro lodge and eventually got to a very nice little cottage in their beautiful gardens.
