The Battle of the Bougainvillea

With loppers and shears
we battled the long-thorned and
pink bougainvillea

Today was the day. The neighbourhood was quiet. (It's American Thanksgiving.) We held our tools at the ready. The trash bin sat waiting to do its part. I hacked with the loppers and D chopped with the hand pruners. In under 60 minutes the deed was done. We vanquished the pink bougainvillea with only a few scars to mark the occasion.
