And the winner is.............

A day of fun and games today.

We had our annual College barbecue at lunchtime today and the theme was The Olypmics.

What could I possibly take with me that had an Olympic theme??????????????
Correct, an inflatable Olympic Torch!!!

We were also asked to enter a team for an "Olympic" competition.
The events were standing long jump, medicine ball throw, race walking individual and relay, skipping individual and realy, and finally tug of war.

HR questioned the validity of one of our team members, suggesting he had not been CRB checked, didn't have a proper badge and worst of all that he was too tall! This good natured banter just servede to spur our team on. Initially and anything less than a win was now out of the question. My colleague in the first race walking race was very nervous but I reassured her she didn't neeed to win (knowing fine well she would now win!)

Anyway, as we went into the last event, we reckoned we had done enough already and we simply needed to take part in the tug of war to be the overall winners.

Tionight we had our end of year party to celebrate the success of our students. It always starts off well but can get a bit scary later on as the alcohol flows. I usually make an exit before this piint. What I don't see I don't worry about. But tonight was a really good atmossphere and we were Royally entertained by Jack and Jack, doing Jazz Swing and Big Band numbers. Very much a Buble style and they went down a storm. With their good looks and great voices they caught they attention of many of the young ladies, and one or two of the young men in the audience!

A couple of people asked for photos with the Torch. I took some persuading tonight because I didn't want to overshadow the student winners. Anyway, we waited until well after the presentations so as not to detract and now the number of people who have had a hold is around the 1000 mark
