Outside blipping was looking not very attractive or likely - a miserable day.   So I was sitting at the kitchen table catching up with a little work.  And keeping an eye on the news channel.   Here's a debate on so-called Islamic State and sitting on the right hand side is Steve Richards - journalist, commentator, presenter and quiz show host.

A few years back, he and I ended up on the platform at Oxenholme having just missed the connection to Windermere.   He going walking, I going to a meeting.    So we agreed to share a taxi across country.   We had a nice chat about politics and current affairs.    At the time I didn't realise that he had just been ranked by the Daily Telegraph as an influential person of the British left, reporting that his journalism has the attention of the leaders of the UK's top three political parties.   Mind you, I don't suppose that Mr Corbyn has helped maintain his rating!
