Homemade Christmas
Today my lovely husband took the boy for an hour or so, which combined with about an hour of nap-time, gave me just enough time to make a Christmas present for the boy that I've been meaning to make for ages.
When at home in August, I found some fab fabric with a map of London on it, which seemed perfect for something for the boy's room - a bed cover in the end with lots of top stitching and an appliqué border on the reverse. Worked out reasonably well, not perfect, but just fine for a 6 month old boy who won't really know what Christmas is. The actual map isn't exactly correct, Regents Park appears South of the river, for example, as does Camden, so I won't be using it for any London geography in a hurry, but sewing along street names that are oh so familiar brought back some very happy memories.
My delight in getting something done in one day can't quite be explained, when everything takes forever as my time is no longer my own, to have what turned into two hours to get something done - and finished - was quite special.
So tomorrow, it's Christmas cake day, another thing I've been meaning to make for longer than I'd like to admit.
