Tree up Tree down

Late this afternoon we decided to put the Christmas tree up. The boys loved helping Andre put it up and put baubles on the branches, many just on one branch.

It was pretty, clearly a kids decorated tree. Then only 5 minutes later the tree had fallen, baubles spread across the lounge floor. That was it , the beginning of the end for the tree.

So, we packed it up again and put it back in the garage, perhaps if we put it up while they're asleep they might not destroy it so much. I mean they were hitting it making the baubles fall off and laughing.

Today everything with Kanye came to a head. I talked with his teacher who asked me to pick him up late morning as that was when he crashes, the clincher was when she said how unlike him hes been, how different hes been the past two weeks and that hes not really coping anymore.

After taking Mar to school i called the neurology nurse. I explained that Kanye wasn't himself, his behaviour and his health weren't good anymore, and it wasn't just me noticing , it was school too. I said i wanted him off the meds, that this wasn't working. Despite them saying there were no side effects upon researching it out of the 11 commonly reported Kanye was suffering from about 6 that i knew of and could actually see.

She went and spoke to the neurologist who was also concerned about Kanye, and said it was fine to take him off it. He wasn't yet on a  high enough dose to affect his seizures so just take it straight out. This was always going to be a trial and error type ordeal and though i wanted it to work it just wasn't worth it to stick it out when it was affecting him so badly, this medication isn't for him and that's fine, the first one we tried wasn't necessarily going to be the magic one.

So i felt a huge amount of relief, my stomach was in so many knots about this and the right thing to do.

So i picked Kanye up at lunch and he was home for the afternoon.

It was really hot again today so after school we went to the beach and the boys paddled in the water. My head has been a mess over this stuff with Kanye and it was nice to have that weight lifted from my mind.

The neurology nurse said to keep an eye on him over the next 2 weeks and see how he reacts, if he improves then it was clearly the meds and if he continues to decline then they'll try something else. I think this will be for the better.
