On the road to Mandalay

We had a 6 hour bus journey on the road to Mandalay, driving steeply down a twisty road through pine forests, before reaching the teak forest with some very sad looking elephants getting washed.

Mandalay is not as romantic as the name suggests - it's another Asian city being built up by Chinese developers.

But there are many pagodas and temples to visit. I suspect we'll be templed out fairly soon.
