New Hampshire!
Back in NH after over four years, and six years since we were here for six months. Wonderful to see our friends again, as well as various familiar places. This is in Brookline, NH, with the US and New Hampshire flags. Strangely, for the present day, the State flag of New Hampshire shows its ship-building heritage, although it only has 12 miles of coastline, sandwiched between Maine and Massachussetts. The state began when long logs were required for ships' masts, and it had (and still has) forests with tall trees.
Our time here was wonderfully free of many responsibilities, but also quite a painful time for me personally. All that was over six years ago, but being back here brings it all back and I do feel an underlying tension. It was also before I started on the formal journey towards ordination so I feel slightly as though I'm in a time warp back to who I was then.
And I discovered a new way to get to the front of the queue in Immigration - have your daughter throw up in the Immigration Hall :-( Susanna was SO good on the plane, then fell asleep as we landed, cut her lip, and DID tell me that she didn't feel well, then was sick. Poor soul. She had a great day today, but is rather jet lagged.
