Band Concert

Almost 1000 musical students from 11 villages near Oaxaca joined together to perform a band concert. They filled a giant plaza, and the crowd spilled out from the bleacher-like seats, lining the sidewalk and stairs on both sides of the plaza. This plaza is around the corner from where we live, so after I walked there and just managed to squeeze my way in to take this picture, I went home, and we sat on the porch and enjoyed their excellent music.
Toward the end of the concert colorful fireworks sparkled in the sky, and after the official music was done, the musicians just kept on -  playing the tunes that they typically play in parades. What a wonderful performance!
