Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Shaw's Cove, Laguna Beach, Southern California

In yesterday's photo (taken from the doorway of our motel room) Shaw's Cove could be seen just beyond the court yard. So today's photo is right in the cove. Laguna has dozens if not several hundred little coves.

I mentioned yesterday that my car has broken down and was towed to a repair garage and we've rented a car. So today we made the quick 40 minute drive home to get Mr. Fun's car and return the rental car. Once we got back to the coast we walked the shoreline in South Laguna before stopping in at the shop to check on my car. We had already been told that she needs a new transmission, so a nation-wide search is on for a replacement for the 5-speed stick-shift. One was located, but when it arrived at the shop, it wasn't right. So the owner of the shop, Mo, told us we would not get the car back today. He's going to continue looking for a good used transmission. He says they are hard to find and he looked at me and smiled as he said, "Because the owners of these cars keep them." I think Mo is impressed that I like my car, have taken good care of it, and want to keep it.

If Mo cannot find a good used transmission, he will have his guys rebuild the transmission in my car. Until then my Dodge is spending the night at a shop that specializes in Ferrari's, Porsche's, Jaguar's, and Mercedes-Benz. We're hoping she'll have a litter of Ferrari's when we get her back home! ;-)

So we left the shop and caught a ride in the free Laguna Beach Trolley. We rode to the Sawdust Art Festival that just opened today. We had dinner there while listening to some fabulous music at one of the open air venues and there are several of those at the Sawdust Festival. Then we strolled through the entire place looking at all the art, and there is a lot of it. About 9:00 p.m. we caught the trolley again this time back to our motel.

It's been a full day and we've enjoyed ourselves immensely. Tomorrow we head for home.

Good night from Laguna Beach.
