This morning we woke early with the knowledge that we needed to exit Laguna Beach and head inland toward home to arrive by 11:00 at the kennel where our three pooches have been since Wednesday afternoon.

We knew with the heat in the inland region that we'd not be in much traffic because everyone would be headed the other direction toward the coast and the cooler temperatures. So the drive home was a cinch. We got the dogs just before 11:00 and headed for the house. During the afternoon we kept the house closed and let the AC keep us comfortable while we emptied our suitcases and settled back in here at home.

I went to the grocery store so we could barbecue dinner and when I returned we prepared a salad and set the patio table and then enjoyed the pool before grilling our dinner. The late afternoon and early evening were lovely to be outdoors. Then we enjoyed dinner, and now we've settled in for the night.

It's good to be home.
