I'll never know What made it so exciting;
ABC of Troon.... L is for Lochgreen.
Nestled in amongst some of the most lovely wooded areas in town lies the Lochgreen House Hotel. Part of a chain owned by Ayrshire Business man Bill Costley; it is a rather exclusive venue and not one I tend to drop in on all that often.
My first encounter here was an "end of Project" night were we (the members of said project) descended upon the House with enthusiasm, made full use of free bar, drunk ourselves useless, ate until we were almost sick (some were), drunk some more, and then were decanted into taxis home.
What I do remember was that there were 5 or 6 courses, but each plate so little, that even after 5 or 6 courses, you still weren't full.
Tooli had a her Prom here. As Head Gal, she had a lot of say in the choice of venue - and she and I toddled in one night to pay the deposit. It was terribly quiet and those residents who were around were all whispering and the staff were tiptoeing.
Tooli and I looked at each other, eyes wide in amusement -why? Because Boy worked in during the summers when he came home from University. Boy + Lochgreen = chaos.
Heaven knows what they must have made of him, because he was everything that Lochgreen isn't. Loud, funny, busy, active, wild and crazy. I would have been intrigued to see him at work and how in heavens name he reigned in his natural exuberance to maintain a level of decorum required.
It was fortunate then, that he was working the night of the Prom. Loads of like minded people for him to interact with.
Suffice to say that the prom accommodating a good 100 youngsters would fill the hotel with more noise and laughter than it typically holds.
How delighted was I that Boy was able to text me seconds after Tooli had, to announce that he had watched as votes were counted and Tooli was nominated Prom Queen.
Aw, he was awfully proud of her that night.
