In Manor Village Hall.....

An Address in the days after WW1.   It hangs beside the memorial with more than 50 names of those who served - 20 of them among the "unreturning brave."

The language is, of course, of the day.   As are many of the thoughts expressed.

Tomorrow, Parliament will vote on matters too solemn to be subjected to party politicking as we have seen all round in these last few days.

War is a tragedy, and it's worth reflecting that there has hardly been a year in the last 100 years when there has not been an active conflict somewhere on our planet.    We rarely think about the human cost.  Now it's on our doorstep and we are called to think carefully about our next step.

It seems that "as long as Manor hills endure and Manor Water flows" the black curse of War will never be defeated.
