Animal rescue
Nearly 1,000 injured hedgehogs have been rescued in the past year and returned to the wild- thanks to the work of the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Wildlife Rescue Centre near Stirling.
The scale of the animals rescued took us all by surprise.
Claire Fraser (pictured with SWT chairman, Roy Sexton) was the guest speaker at the meeting of our local Scottish Wildlife Centre tonight.
Everything from injured birds to otters, foxes and deer are brought in by the public and carefully looked after, even feeding some on the hour every hour, until they are fit and strong enough to be released again into the wild.
But top of their rescued animal list are hedgehogs!
