In Memoriam
"The air is silent, earth is at rest
Only your peace is near me"
Today I went up to Ulverston to my friend's Husband's funeral. She is a member of the Friday group but moved up to Ulverston to be near her daughter's family when Bill became ill.
There were 5 of us in the car and we arrived early and had a bite to eat in a local tea shop and decided to look at the town. A lovely high street full of interesting little shops but it rained nonstop! took refuge in an Oxfam shop with loads of books! Cold and wet we arrived at the church for the requiem mass. A really nice priest who spoke very well. Half our parish seemed to have gone up !
We did not go to the grave side but went straight to the Bay Horse Hotel, Canal foot on the river Leven estuary, where I took the above photo. It was so wonderful to see our friend again! We celebrated Bill with a superb afternoon tea! A most beautiful array of sandwiches, scones with cream and fresh raspberries and strawberries and really short, shortbread! Photo of our table (with weird reflections) after we left it, in the extras. Then home!
I also put an abstract - taken straight from an advert in Ulverston - both in the extras! For Abstract Thursday hosted by Youoregon1 Many thanks!
