Little and Large....
A busy one today. Mild but dry to start with. The contractor here to bruise barley. This means passing the grain between 2 metal rollers that crush it just enough to break the skin so it becomes digestible in the rumen. It is then treated with Propcorn (acid ) to preserve it during storage. Borrowed a neighbours Merlo telehandler to load the hopper above the rollers.
We were getting on fine until about 2pm when the rain started, and by 3pm we had to give it up as a bad job as too wet. Got 58 tons done, but still about another 70 to do.
By the time I took the Merlo back and came home ,the rain had turned to sleet then snow. By 9pm we have 4-5 inches and it is still slittering on.
No doubt tomorrow will be fun ( not ! )
