High Street, Tenterden

A fine, sunny day after what seemed to be interminable dull days without any sunshine. It remains mild and is supposed to get windy over the weekend.

So, instead of going to the gym on such a pleasant morning we took a trip out to Tenterden to visit the Chapel Down vineyards and winery to buy food and wine for Christmas hampers. Of course we had to sample the wines to help us decide which one to buy.

From the vineyard we went into the town, bright, bustling and busy. A lovely old market town with a slew of interesting buildings and shops. Did a bit more shopping including some upmarket shopping in Waitrose. Enjoyed a coffee and scone, as you do.

There was time for a visit to the gym when we got back to Maidstone which gave us only just enough time to make the final preparations for our annual Walkers' Dinner in the evening. These are all people I worked with in the 1990s and with whom we regularly went walking. The group has dwindled now owing to anno domini and people moving away but we still gather at our house once a year. We provide the main course and the others a starter, dessert or cheese.

Thank you to all of you who continue to comment on my blips, I do appreciate them all, I need to find some time to reciprocate.
